Conference Locations

Science Atlantic conferences are hosted on a rotating basis. Each year, a different university is selected to host the conference.

Some conferences have a set roster which outlines conference locations for many years ahead. Other conferences select the future locations as they go.

Conference Collaborators

Here is a brief description of the primary collaborators involved in Science Atlantic conferences. Please see our Conference Support Network Page for more details about who you can rely on for support throughout the planning process.

Science Atlantic is an association of 18 member institutions. Each member institution has an Institutional Representative (typically the Dean of Science or equivalent; click here for a list of Science Atlantic Institutional Representatives).  Each Institutional Representative has primary responsibility for that institution’s engagement in Science Atlantic governance and activities. Accordingly, the Institutional Representative is a key partner in ensuring the success of hosting a Science Atlantic conference.  relates to conference planning.

Science Atlantic has standing Discipline Division Committees in various science divisions which consist of representative faculty members from our member institutions. When a conference is hosted at a particular university, the Science Atlantic Faculty Representative at that university is the primary point of contact for conference related business between the conference organizing committee, the Institutional Representative, Science Atlantic staff, and the corresponding Science Atlantic discipline Committee Chair.

  • Check out our member directory to see who is sits on your Division Committee

Science Atlantic is comprised of 10 Discipline Division Committees. Committees are comprised of Faculty Representatives across our member institutions. The Division committee collectively has experience with previous conferences and has a wealth of knowledge relating to conference norms.

The conference organizing committee can consist of both faculty and students. There are a variety of roles required for conference planning.

Science Atlantic acts as a facilitator across Atlantic institutions to share guidelines and best practices about conference hosting (Conference-in-a-Box), provides a mailing list for faculty across institutions in the relevant discipline, manages awards payments and winner announcements, reviews budgets and provides input, and holds the Holding Account for each discipline as a joint pot of money across institutions.
